Tattoos

Tattoo #1
(Done by some guy at Dago's Houston, TX. I have been told multiple times how much that place sucks. I didn't know that when I got the tattoo.)

I got this one my first week of college. It honestly had been on my mind for awhile, I just had no opportunity to get it until my friend called me up and said, "Hey, I am going to the tattoo shop to get my lip pierced. Wanna come?" So, just like that my first tattoo was done. The reason I got it was because this song literally saved my life. When I was in the car one day, on a curvy road, after battling depression, I decided I wanted to just die. So, instead of curving with the road I started going straight. Right as I started doing that, this song came on, and I freaked out saying, "What am I doing?? ah!" Then I turned with the road. So thankful for the Lord watching after me that day.

Tattoo #2
(Done by the owner of Machine Shop in Conroe, TX. I liked this shop, but they are very cocky. I don't like that in an artist.)

I actually got this after watching L.A Ink all day, and itching for a new tattoo. I paint, but not until around that time did I decide to use my talents for the Lord. Was kind of inspired by;

"No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light." Luke 8:16

Tattoo #3
(Done by, once again, "some guy" from Adorn in Spring, TX. This was like two years ago, and I cant remember)

It's an abstract rose. i want to get it re-done because it's all wonky. Anyway, I saw this tattoo in a tattoo shop, but had other plans for it, so I took a picture of it. (I think you aren't supposed to do that. Woops..) I re did it to come out something like this. I say something, because.. well he didn't do a good job. The meaning behind this, is all the little spaces are things in my life that have happened that/people I need to forgive. At that point in time, I had only gotten over/forgiven two things in my life. (I should really get a few more filled in) Anyway, this is just a reminder of how I have forgiven, and it needs to stay that way.

Tattoo #4
(Done by Chano from Tattoo Corner in Galveston, Tx. Although, I found out he doesn't work there anymore.)
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:4
This was done in a really rough time in my life. I had been suffering from deep deep depression, and I had found comfort in the fact that my Lord was with me. Seeing as this has  been my favorite verse since seventh grade, and it fit, I got it tattooed.

Tattoo #5
(Done by haha.."Some guy" at No Regrets Tattoo in Champaign, IL Gosh I have horrible memory)

I am very aware that this is a cliche tattoo, but.. I couldn't help it. If you are a Texan, you will understand my deep love for that great state. I got this when I had moved 1,000 miles from home to Chicago, IL to pursue a relationship with my, now husband. I was missing home so bad, so I got this so I could feel like I would have a piece of home with me all of the time. (I travel/move a lot.)

Tattoo #6
(Done by Greg Votaw at Galveston Tattoo Corner. Honestly he is really the only person I remember because he is so good. I wish he was here in Cali. His work is flawless and healed so quickly. Fair price too. I miss you Greg!)

This is probably my most favorite tattoo. I had been doing homeless missionary work for about a year, and in that time ended up homeless. It really taught me so much, and I would never ever take it back. I learned that Love is the ONLY way in this life. I had gotten so much closer to the Lord, and really tried to be like Jesus. (Literally because I was traveling around talking to the homeless, druggies, alcoholics, prostitutes.) So, basically The "SON" radiates LOVE. (Ya, it took me awhile to really figure how I wanted to draw this out.)

  1. Haley I love all your tattoos and the meaning behind them. I have 4 tattoos myself none of them have meaning except the one of my wedding date. Other than that I got the others because they are pretty. Also love what you are doing with the blog.
